Weekend Sale Guide

I haven't done a sale guide post for a long long time. This weekend there are just so many sales going on that it's just wrong not to pull them together. I'm running an annoying cold right now thanks to my loving and sharing kids, so I'll be sitting out this sale. Painful but head hurts too much to do so. Hope you get a chance to take advantage of some of them. Here's what I gathered thanks to so many bloggers and friends who shared the information with me in person or on twitter. Please let me know if I missed any good ones in the comment. Thanks, and happy shopping!
  • Banana Republic Factory store 30% off your entire purchase. Thanks Tay for sharing this email offer. If you need one, please email me and I will forward a copy to you.

  • J.Crew Factory store 20% off your purchase of $125+. Expires 9/30/2012. Click here for coupon. Thanks Gigi for sharing this awesome deal. I would totally recommend this downtown field jacket if you don't own one. For your reference, this jacket runs a bit small. I was wearing an XS and it fits me perfectly. Usually J.Crew XS is huge on me, especially factory.
  • Ann Taylor Factory take an additional 50% off all new fall fashion, through 9/25. No coupon needed. Check out this Grecian style dress on Jean while you are there.
  • H&M $10 off $50, or $20 off $75 with this mailer.  Thanks Kelly for sharing.
  • Ann Taylor in-store and online (code 30FALL) 30% off all your full-price purchase. Recommend this wrap dress. And how cute is this jeweled sweater paired with this tweed skirt, in a dark jade color.
  • Old Navy Rock Star Jeans for $15.2 here
  • Madewell (online only) extra 25% off sale styles & free shipping on $100+ with code YIPPEE.

Deal Alert: Old Navy Rock Star Jeans only $15.2

Last season I bought a pair of Rock Star jeggings in a dark wash and loved it so much I kept it even though it was at its original price ($34 I think). I also picked up another pair in store on super sale and loved it. See it on me in this post and this post. I haven't tried on the Rock Star super skinny jeans before, and I'm not even sure if they are different from the jeggings, or the same with a different name, but you can see them on Tiffany here. There are 12 colors to choose from. They all come in regular, petite, and tall sizes. Notice also that if you chose regular, it also gives you an inseam of short, regular, and long. That's a great option for me. I ordered the petite 0 before and found it too tight on the waist. Petite 2 is too loose all around. When I finally chose the regular 0 in short inseam, it fit perfectly. So if you are not sure, order different sizes to try. Return is quite simple for Old Navy online purchases. Just go to your nearest store and they'll take them back.

All Rock Star jeans are on sale now for $19, with still many sizes available. Use code ONCARD20 to get 20% off $50 + order with Old Navy Card. (That's $15.2 total after all said and done.) If you don't have an old navy card, try use ONEXTRA15 to get 15% off any order. I haven't tried the second code, so please let me know if it works if you do end up ordering. Rock Star jeans excluded.

Also, don't forget to use ebates to get an extra 2% cash back. For invite, here.
Happy Shopping!

Multiple Shades of Green + Penny Loafer Pumps

I'm naturally drawn to green - any shades, you name it. Today's outfit started with discovering the green lace top I bought beginning of the year and worn only once. I wanted to pair it with an A-line skirt, and today's cool temperature (50s in the morning, and upper 60s in the afternoon) made me reach for the trusted wool version.  I love this skirt so much that I ended up collecting 3 colors - rust, green, and camel when JCrew slashed the price to $34.99 in March. I was surprised by how often I reached for these skirts in different pairings. As you can see from the final product, I continuously piled green on top of it - green brooch, jade studs (not shown), and my new favorite jacket - J.Crew field jacket (factory version) in mossy brown.  Now the interesting part is the shoe selection. I  picked out two options - a pair of brown laced up booties and a pair of penny loafer pumps. I went with the penny loafer pumps - felt like being preppy today. :)

Have you wondered where the name "penny loafer" came from? I got curious today and did some online research. The story is actually quite interesting.  For the curious mind, check out The History of the Penny Loafer here and here.
I never noticed the distinct open-lips-like straps until today. Maybe next time I will stick a penny in there for luck. :)

Wardrobe Staple - Wrap Dress

Update on Ann Taylor sale (9/21): 30% off your full price purchase with code 30FALL

Update on Ann Taylor sale (9/18): The BOGO sale expired yesterday. Today they are running another deal which can be even better if you are looking for tops or pants - "30% off all tops and pants", no code needed. What that means is that you may be able to stack your promotional coupons on top of the deal.  I tried the 20% off coupon I got from InStyle magazine (code: 10000007638) and it allowed me to stack it on top of the 30% off sale. Effectively you are getting 44% off. Expired.

Most importantly, I want to mention a few sales that are going on right now.
Now onto today's feature item: Ann Taylor Wrap Dress. Here are some brief thoughts about this dress (I am wearing a 00P. I'm 5 feet and 96 lbs.)
  • Fits very well - sleeves are fitted but not tight, length is above the knee. Some people might like it a bit longer, but I like it a bit shorter.
  • The dress wraps well at a higher waist - I might even consider wearing it without a cami to work.
  • The traditional wrap dress opens at the bottom, if not careful you might be exposing your thigh by accident. This dress solves the problem by closing off the bottom part - very clever and not at all noticeable.
  • Material has a good weight and substance, and it drapes very well.
  • Machine washable - Thank you!
  • Very comfortable.
  • Pattern is nicer in person than on picture - this pattern doesn't photograph well, due to its messiness.
  • The 3/4 sleeves have slits which flares out - I might even consider sewing them close.
I tried the monochromatic approach with classic black pumps and black purse first.
Then I decided to be a little more playful with a T-strap heels and a burgundy purse.
I have looked high and low for a wrap dress that fits me well, and I finally found it. Yes, this is my first and only wrap dress in my closet.  I have tried on the Diane Von Furstenberg's New Jeane wrap dress but the fit was awful on me. It was meant for someone much taller than 5'.

Do you own wrap dresses? What are your thoughts on this style?

Silk and Leather

Happy Friday, everyone. I apologize for being so late on this post. I meant to take some pictures of this Theory leather jacket last Sunday after many of you requested it from seeing this post, but didn't get a chance till this morning. It's been rainy, humid, and hot this week, so the thought of putting this jacket on made me sweat bullets. I was able to take the Friday off to recoup - from the year long bashing by the project I was working on. The morning was cool enough that I felt ok to wear it for a few minutes over the silky ensemble.  I couldn't bear the thoughts of trying it on with skinny jeans and long sleeve shirt, which would've been perfect for this jacket.

Theory Kanya L Rowdy Leather Jacket in New Camel

I want to do a quick post on this super soft lambskin leather jacket in a beautiful camel color from Theory. I have been searching for a camel colored soft leather jacket for at least 3 years. My price point was under $1000. Yah, I love the concept that much that I was willing to shell out that much for a buttery soft leather jacket in camel color. I was not very lucky. The jacket was either not the right design, or look, or the leather was just not the quality that I was looking for. Today, my search has come to an end when I spotted this Theory jacket at the outlet mall. One touch to the jacket, you'll fall in love like never before. Trust me, this is the softest leather I have ever laid my hands on. The color is beautiful. Size P fits me on the shoulder nicely. Sleeves are too long, but it's an easy alteration. Since the leather was very soft, I just folded it in when I tried it on and no one could tell I did that. The only thing that was out of my comfort zone was the big flappy front. I kept on playing with it and just couldn't seem to get it to lay right. The SA asked me to leave it alone and let it fall naturally. She also recommended that I added a scarf. I tried and loved the look. The jacket is selling for $795 (retail) on SHOPBOP and RevolveClothing, but is half off at the outlet. I also used the VIP coupon book for an extra 15% off. So the final price was around $340. If you are looking for a soft camel leather jacket I highly recommend that you give this one a try. If you did, please let me know what you think.

Stripe Panel Skirt

Thanks to my blogger friend Annie who sent it my way because the waist fits too big on her, I was able to get my hands on this beautifully made skirt from BGBGeneration. The skirt is very well made, fully lined, and has a good weight to it. It fits me perfectly. I love it so much that I have worn it at least 5 times already since I got it a few weeks ago. Thank you again, Annie. See this skirt on one of my favorite bloggers Wendy here.
Outfit Details
Loft top
Chanel m/l flap
belt from another h&m top

On a separate note, Club Monaco is having an extra 30% off sale right now that includes my favorite two items that I tried on a month ago in store. All sizes are still available. If you are looking for some quality summer silk and light weight blazer, I highly recommend these two items.

Have a great Labor Day weekend!
