OOTD: Casual Elegance

I am taking a day off today, so I slept in. (till 9 am.) If you would let me sleep without a schedule I would totally dose in my deep dream state for 9 hours or more every night. But guess what I usually get? About 6-7. So whenever I get a chance, I'd sleep like you wouldn't believe.
Kids have to tread through snow to go trick or treating tonight, but at least it won't be 20 degrees out there. With the sun shining full force, I was pretty comfortable with my outfit today.
Notice how I wear my J.Crew Shawl-collar cardigan as a shawl today by buttoning the openings outwards by themselves? I am pretty happy with my invention this morning. I wanted to showcase the beautiful Gap blouse and Ann Taylor leopard print belt, so I didn't want to button the sweater. You can do this with any double breasted trench/sweater. See it worn buttoned up here, and opened here.
Outfit Details:
Gap blouse (xs, buy here, purchased in store for $18)
Gap outlet pants (size 1, purchased a few months ago)
J.Crew Shawl-Collar Cardigan (xs, old, purchased here)
Ann Taylor belt (buy here)
Ann Taylor pumps (old, buy similar here)
Ann Taylor necklace (old, buy similar here)
Rebecca Minkoff MAC (buy here)

Happy Halloween, Everyone!

Review: J.Crew Petite Stadium-cloth Boulevard Trench

Thank you for entering the Allson Izu Jeans giveaway. The two winners are:
-- Ali for the super skinny
-- Laura L. for the Panio low rider
Congratulations. Please contact me within 48 hours to claim your winning.

Yesterday's storm turned out to be the worst I have ever seen. The fact that the leaves are on the trees still make the heavy snow stick and weigh the limbs down more than they would have if they had no leaves. Downed trees and power lines are every where. I spent the whole morning knocking snow off poor trees that are literally bent down to the ground. We lost a couple of trees, but fortunately nothing serious. Hope you all are doing fine.

Some people (little people) are actually enjoying the storm.

Now onto the Stadium-cloth Boulevard Trench in 00P.

Fit: 00P fits perfectly on me when I am wearing a shirt without a sweater. This is a winter coat, so I expect to wear something thicker. When I do that, this coat fits too tight to be comfortable. So I think I need to size up.
Color: Beautiful Camel color. darker than the stock photos.
Length: just above knee. Perfect for winter months.
Sleeve Length: Typical of J.Crew, their sleeves seem to be shorter than other brands.
Quality: Beautifully stadium cloth wool that never disappoints.

I really like the look of this coat from the back. From the front though, I think the belt is too cumbersome. I prefer a sleek looking (no belt) coat, and leave the belting to trenches. (If this coat is on super sale, I might reconsider my belting preference. But for now, this coat is going back.)

While this coat was making its way back to J.Crew today, two jackets are making their way to me today. After seeing the hacking jacket in herringbone on Jean's post, I couldn't help thinking about it. I love the traditional British riding jacket. I love the leaner silhouette, the men's wear inspired herringbones, the irresistible colors - I ordered the charcoal and the heather dark grape.  Both jackets were on an in-store promotion of $125 each (online price $198). I was able to order my sizes using the in-store red phone so I could take advantage of the in-store prices. The SA at Natick Mall (Lauren, thank you!) was so sweet and helpful, that it totally made my day.  The shipping was complimentary if you use the red phone. Isn't it awesome? Great way to find the sizes that I can never find in store.

Thank you for reading. Have a wonderful week!

Loft 40% Sale and Flat Wool Twill Cropped Blazer

I'm busy getting ready for the 8 inches of snow that is threatening to hit our region tonight. Yeah, what's up with snow in October? But before I get buried in the prep work, I'd like to share with you all on a Flat Wool Twill Cropped Blazer that I found from Loft yesterday before the 40% off entire purchase deal ends tonight. (use code SHOP40). If you have a Loft Cares card, you should call and ask that the discount be applied towards the purchase as well. I bought it in store, so I got an extra 25% off with the card. (Code LOFTCARES for online purchase).
I have nothing bad to say about this jacket. I love the texture, the color, the fit, the cropped look, the pockets, the lining. The regular price is $128, which is a little much for this jacket, but with the discounts, it comes down to around $57.6, which I think is fantastic for its quality and fit.
Outfit Details:
Loft Flat Wool Twill Cropped Blazer (00P, buy here)
Loft blouse (xxsp, this season, not available online now)
Gap corduroy leggings (00R, in albergine LOVE! buy here, See 00P on Jean.)

Rebecca Minkoff MAC clutch in Amethyst (ADORE! buy Red version here)

I have another pair of Gap corduroy leggings (00R) in Rust that I will return to the store. Since it's sold out online, I'd like to check if any one of my readers would like to snatch it up. I paid $42. If you want it, please let me know. The length is great for petites 5'2"-5'4". I cuffed it and I like the cuffed look too.

Update at 2 pm: The snow is hitting us now. Stay safe and warm, my friends in MA.
Update at 5 pm: Yep, it's been snowing - big flakes!

SALES ALERT: J.Crew 25% off all orders with code LOVEFALL

After the Ann Taylor Plush Wool Cordial Coat epic fail, I am back on the coat market. When I learned about the J.Crew 25% off all orders and free shipping over $150, I jumped in and ordered the Stadium Cloth Boulevard Trench in Saddle.
I am very much in love with J.Crew's Stadium Cloth material. I bought this black peacoat last season and adore the feel of the wool. I personally prefer the Stadium-Cloth than the Double-Cloth. From the picture, the color is very nice, and I hope it's that way irl. I don't own a belted winter coat and would love to give this trench style a try. (BTW, I am so in love with my new Ann Taylor Vintage Trench right now that I'm wearing it every single day. :))

While I was at it, I couldn't resist the temptation of putting this beautiful silk shirt in my cart as well. Isn't it screaming "fall"? See it on Chloe here. Buy Silk Lucinda Blouse here.
Readers, are you going to take advantage of this sale? Share your purchases here please!

Don't forget to use to get 4% cash back on J.Crew orders.  If you need an invite, click here.

REVIEW: STEVEN by Steve Madden Bolerro boots

I ordered these boots from during its 30% off sale. With a generous 7.5% rebate, these boots ended up just under $130. Is it worth it? Let's see.

I am wearing a size 6 here. For reference, I am 5 feet tall. The boots hit me right under my knee cap. Since it has a dipped V shape both front and back, it makes these boots very friendly to petite women. The buckles are adjustable with 3 holes. I am using the tightest setting. It fits my legs very well. The boots are made of leather. It has a very pleasant leather smell, and it doesn't have the dreadful strong glue smell that comes with some of Steve Maddens boots (their Cablee boots had such a strong fuming odor that I had to put them in the garage before I returned them. They literally gave me a headache).  The leather is soft yet keeps its shape nicely. It is definitely not slouchy if you are looking for that look. Above all, it's got chunky heels that are around 2.5-3 inches tall which is perfect for walking (for me at least. I actually prefers a little heel than flat boots.) Overall it's a very nice looking, chic, casual tall boots that I would wear to work, and to the mall. :)  If I have to nitpick, it did have some stitches that scratched me, and I had to remove them with scissors. This just means these boots are not premium boots, but nowadays, the premium boots can run 3-5 times this price, so I guess I can't complain. (In general, I feel the quality of clothing and footwear over the years has gone down, and the price has gone up, significantly, more than the inflation.)

All the small sizes are gone from If you are still interested, the Steve Madden website has more sizes available. When this review was written, they still had sizes from 5.5 to 10.

Don't forget to enter for the Allison Izu Jeans Giveaway. Have a great weekend.

REVIEW: Ann Taylor Petite Plush Wool Cordial Coat

Loft sequins top in xxsp (last year)
Ann Taylor Leopard print cardigan xsp (last season)
Gap ponte legging pants 00 hemmed (worn here)
STEVEN by Steve Madden Bolerro Boots (LOVE! buy here, review coming up)
Ann Taylor Plush Wool Cordial Coat xxsp (current, sold out online)
Vintage Peri Cameo (ebay)

Ann Taylor Petite Plush Wool Cordial Coat in XXSP
This coat is completely sold out online. I haven't seen any petite sizes in stores near me.

Front view of this coat is very boxy. Absolutely no cinching on the waist. Upper right picture I was trying to show how wide this coat is by pulling one side in for a nicer fit of my body. It will need to wrap over a lot more. I supposed to can re-sew the buttons to be a little farther from the edge, but not enough to make it look more fit. Lower left picture, I was using my left hand to cinch in to my waist. See how much bigger it is? The buttons are hidden and the button holes are as well, as shown in the lower right picture. Please click on the pictures to see bigger image.

Here is how it looks opened. Sorry the wind was furious this morning. It doesn't look that bad opened.
The back view
-- Very soft wool. When I took it out of the package, it was like holding a kitten. Very cashmere like, but its 100% wool.
-- Very nice camel color. I have been on the outlook for a camel coat this winter and thought this might be it. But unfortunately it's way too big and boxy on me.
-- Sleeve length is perfect on me.

-- Boxy as I mentioned above.
-- I don't like the position of the pockets. Think about how you would look with your hands in those pockets. I couldn't model it because the pockets were closed, but I can assure you that you would look like you are stuck in a permanent shrugging position.

Verdict: Return. (Let me know quickly if you want this coat, otherwise, it's going back to the store. It will probably fit someone one to two size bigger than me.)

Giveaway: Allison Izu Jeans

Allison Izu was kind to send me two pairs of size 00 jeans to review.  Unfortunately neither worked out for me. So I'm giving away both pairs. Please read on for how to enter.

UK ZIPPED: Super Skinny

  1. Golden zippers throughout.
  2. Back pockets have the signature Allison Izu "A" in plum thread color. It's beautiful.
  3. Elastic insert at the waist so you can even go to a buffet dinner with these.
  4. High quality sturdy dark denim.
  1. Waist gap on me, although rest fits very well.
  2. 31" inseam is too long for me.

  • Would be a great fitting pair for someone tad smaller than me.
  • Bootcut style that flatters every body type.
  • Again, signature plum "A" embroidered back pockets.
  • High quality denim
  • Bright floral patterned fabric for inside pockets.
  • Runs small. I need to size up to fit into these. I barely could zip up.
  • 27" inseam is too short for a bootcut style for me.

Now for the giveaway. I am giving away both pairs c/o Allison Izu. Please read the detailed descriptions of both pairs to have a better idea of which pair would fit you better. All you have to do to enter is to leave a comment specifying which pair you want. You can certainly opt to enter for both. Missoni for Target Cardigan and Prada Boots

Most of you already knew that I was crazy about the Missoni for Target designs before it came out. So on the day of the debut I ventured into a local Target after work, only to find some girls' knits and shoes left. The girl's version of the sleeveless dress was too thin for my liking, so I bought my daughter a cardigan (size L) that was more hefty in weight and rich in colors. Last week, I had to go to target to return a few things, only to find the same cardigan in size XL, hanging there all by its lonesome. It was a return. So I picked it up.
Missoni for Target Cardigan (girl's size XL)
Prada boots
Ralph Lauren belt
Swarovski necklace and earrings
Forever 21 ring
"Dodge! There comes a dog walker!"
I so admire you girls who are taking blog photos with people around you. I am such a wuss! I can't even take a dog walker.
Isn't the pattern amazing? I still decided not to keep it, because the sleeves and body are both too big for me.  I can't believe I still don't have any nail colors on, shame on me!
The boots are a keeper for sure. I just love the metal stir-up pieces that are detachable. Will I wear it? You bet! :)

Have a great rest of the week, and I'll talk to you soon!

I Am Back

Hello, everyone! Sorry for the lengthy absence. I have never been this busy in my entire life (not that I can remember anyways.)  For the past few weeks, I worked, and worked, and worked. I didn't remember much about the weather, what happened in the world, or how my kids were doing. I even stopped painting my nails. Gasp! I know, my world has been revolving around work until last Thursday. Then after hitting our milestone, we were told to take the Friday and Monday off, and reconnect with our family and friends.  I spent the Friday sleeping and shopping. I spent the Saturday playing with the kids. I took Jasmine to ClayTime to paint. I played Toss Across with Tristan. Today I spent the whole day cleaning. I have one day left before I have to go back to work again, and I'll be spending it with my husband. Any suggestions of good movies?

My Friday shopping trip almost failed completely until I found this beauty at Marshall's after I left the mall. These Prada boots are amazingly comfortable even though the heels look sky high. The platform helps a lot.
Since I don't have any new pictures to show you guys I will use a couple of old ones that didn't make it to the blog yet. These were a month old.
Loft T-shirt
Forever 21 skirt
Ann Taylor skinny belt
Clarks Mary Jane (similar here)
Marco Tagliaferri bag

My husband thinks his smiles look ugly in pictures, and I disagree with him. He needs a head shot for his presentation on Tuesday so I took a bunch of pictures. We narrowed it down to these two. (pre-cropped)
Obviously I prefer the one on the left, and he insisted that the one on the right is better. Which one do you prefer? This Gap chambray shirt is simply the best. I ordered this when I ordered my leggings. Can you believe it only cost me $21?

Thank you for reading my random babbles. Have a great week!
