Time to DISQUS, and my LBD!

I decided to take a break from posting yesterday to catch up on visiting the blogs I'm following. Also I decided to take the time to switch over to DISQUS for my commenting tool. Google blogger comes with free commenting capability, but it's such a cumbersome tool compared to DISQUS. I noticed that some bloggers are using DISQUS and loved their interface. When I commented on their blog, the reply gets automatically sent to my mailbox. I don't have to subscribe to all the comments from other people. Also the reply to the comment is indented so you can easily tell who the reply is addressed to. With Disqus, you can view all your comments in one place and you can manage, order the comments in number of ways. It's so cool. I just never found the time to do the switching. It was relatively painless to do and I got this new commenting interface I absolutely LOVE!

Back to my LBD. I got this dress from the F21 visit last weekend. $19.80. Fits like a glove. Unbelievably figure flattering and comfortable. I love the lace details. It's on both front and back. The black cami is built in, another bonus. I am usually not crazy about the bubbly hem, but I think this dress didn't over do it and used just the right amount of extra fabric. Simply love it. Oh by the way, the new heels were killing me yesterday. I love the look of the shoes, but boy, were they uncomfortable! I sometimes can't really tell whether a pair of shoes are comfortable or not when I try them on in the store. Usually they feel fine first, then when I try to wear it to work, it will start giving me grief in a couple of hours.

Turquoise and Chocolate

Happy Monday. Hope everyone had a great weekend.  I spoke too soon when I blogged about how the weather turned cooler on Saturday. On Sunday the thermometer shot up to 92. And this morning, when I dropped the kids off at Summer Camp, it was near 90 already. What's up with that?
I stopped by Forever 21 in the weekend to look around. Not that I had anything to look for, I just couldn't resist the temptation that it was early in the morning and no one was in the store. I practically had the whole store to myself. That is so unusual for F21. Usually when I got there, I felt I was in a chaotic zone where everything was everywhere, and I couldn't see anything that interested me. I just wanted to get out. I know, not a great shopper in that sense. I ended up buying a few things that I really liked, and it didn't break the bank. :) Today I am wearing one of my steals that cost me only $12.50. It's a dress, with cotton top and rayon bottom. The bottom part of the dress is lined. How nice! I really like the chocolate color and it fits me very well. The top part is white and sleeveless, and it's semi sheer. I had to wear a cami underneath if I want to wear the dress as is. But I decided to wear a shirt over it to solve this problem. I had this turquoise shirt for a couple of years. I got it in XXS Petite in Loft, (I usually wear XS Petite in Loft) because that was the only size left, and it was in super clearance. I like the color and the details so much that I decided to buy it. It's a tad bit short on me when I'm wearing pants, but it works great with this dress. I think this is the first time in my life that I'm wearing a shirt over a dress. :)

Yellow and Blue (part 2)

Now that I started a yellow and blue kick, I might as well finish it off with another outfit I wore last weekend. Yes it was a hot weekend. I was sitting in this outfit and sweating.

I created this planter from individual plants.

The heart shaped buttons on the shorts are so cute, and I matched it with a heart shaped ring.

While browsing through other fashion bloggers posts, I came across a post that reviewed the Goody simple styles spin pin. (Sorry now I can't seem to remember where the original post was so I can give proper credit to the blogger.:( )  Anyways I went to Target and purchased it for $6. Gave it a try. I have severely layered hair so I was very doubtful about this pin. I didn't use any rubber band or hair pins. I simply followed the instruction on the package. It worked very well. Much better than I thought would be. The hair weighed it down after 4-5 hours, but it was so easy to redo it that I didn't mind. Also I think if you put up a ponytail first and then use the spin pins, it'll hold a lot longer. I am definitely going to use it a lot this summer.
As you can see the pins are fairly invisible.

Blue and yellow

The weather has finally gone a little more normal for June. It has been hot. It was good to some extent because the kids were able to play in the pool everyday last week. Usually the pool was not usable until mid-July. I pulled out this comfy sundress again this morning (last seen here) because today is going to be a grocery shopping, and lounging day. I added a yellow cap-sleeve top to go with it. I recently developed a liking of blue/yellow color combo. I think it started with the Breton Stripe challenge when I saw so many ladies pairing their Breton stripes with yellow, and they all looked so gorgeous.

Sulfurous Neon

Sleek look for a beautiful Friday. Hope everyone is as excited as I am right now. The skirt is one of my favorite. It's very shapely, but it also has a lot of elasticity. So it's very comfortable to work around in. I like a chic look with comfort. The belt ties it all together giving it a more complete look. Now I have to rant and rave about the necklace I am wearing. It's one of my recent purchase of a snake theme accessories. I have shown off the cuff here and the ring here. Now this necklace is more conventional, but it's very pretty and I like its shape.

"You have to do the best with what God gave you."

This is my second favorite quote from Forrest Gump. Of course the most favorite one would be "Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."
Was it hot today! In fact, was it hot this week! We had a thunderstorm that almost trapped me on the way home today. The rain came down so much so quickly that the car was going in a flood zone.
I felt like a little skirted out recently. So I went with a very thin cotton capri.  To beat the heat, I went with sleeveless top. It's a nice change of view.

Roaring froufrou

Never a big fan of the ruffles this year.  Ruffles are really tricky and can be worn wrong in so many different ways. So as much as I would love to hop on the ruffle wagon, I didn't end up owning much.  This tiered skirt is a border line ruffle. It's not the knit kind that many stores stock this year. It is actually the crispy cotton type. I got it from last year's end of season clearance.  It's very cute and easy to wear. It's one of my summer favorites. The top is an organic T-shirt by Loomstate. It's got a really interesting design. Notice the little wiggly  on the left sleeve? That is actually there by design. It's not a loose thread. :)

Military uniform

I'm talking about the real military uniform here. Not the fake inspired ones that have been loved by fashion industry for many years. I never thought of posting this until I saw my fellow blogger Lida's post today. She was doing a firefighter post. Quite cute. It reminded me of my days in college. I went through 2 months of training in a military camp when I first entered college. It was a required training at the time. I remember hating the uniform. It was so baggy with no shape whatsoever. But now I look at the old photo, it wasn't too bad after all. What do you think?
I'm the one on the far left.

Graphic T & Skirt combo

Title says it all. This is my new favorite outfit nowadays, right behind a dress.  I just like the simple and basic look of it. It's so versatile. You can mix and match all you want. Just own a few graphic tees and some basic skirts (be it pencil, A line, or tiered), and run your permutation. It's wild.

The ring resembles a flower with leaves around it.

I just love the graphic design of this T shirt

Safari Chic

This outfit was worn last week at the same day Jessica from What I Wore posted the Safari Chic challenge. When I saw her post, I was like, could it be more coincidental than this?! Don't get your hopes up, I don't have any clothing piece, including hat, that has zebra, leopard, or giraffe prints on it. My only animal prints item is a silk scarf which happens to have leopard, giraffe and snake prints on it. I was so happy when I pulled it out of the drawer. Next shopping trip target, animal prints. :) Even so, I managed to pull the look together ... I think, especially with the hat.  Make sure to check out how other 60+ ladies rock their Safari look here.

Toy Story 3 - partial

Intel is definitely making itself a Best Place To Work (BPTW). After a recent lobster lunch and a Iron Man 2 IMAX movie for the employees, they gave out 4 tickets per employee for us to bring family members to see the new Toy Story 3 movie. My daughter couldn't make it on Saturday since her best friend was having a birthday party and she had to go to that. I took 3 boys in our family instead, my father, my husband, and my 7 year old son. The movie started out a little boring, but immediately turned very interesting. All the toys including Woody, Buzz, and the rest all ended up in Sunnyside Daycare where the evil bear ruled. The plot was how they escaped from Sunnyside. Well, my son made it to the part where they found out that the kind looking bear and the big baby doll were actually BAD people and the good toys were all trapped in there, and that was it. He demanded that he wanted to go home. No matter how much I tried to convince him that they would all be alright, he just wouldn't want to sit in there any more. So I took him out, wandered over to the mall next door and tried on some shoes instead. I can't really tell you if the movie is good or not, but my husband and my father were ranting and raving about it after they came out. Must be ok. :)
This is what I wore to the movie theater. A simple white T and khaki shorts with skinny belt. A light weight sweater to fight off the air conditioning. I love this sweater for its light weight and its rich color.

Chinese Mei flower skirt

Follow my blog with bloglovin
The Chinese Mei flowers are very popular in China. A lot of people write songs about it. They are really pretty when they open. I really love them.

This BCBG skirt has little white flowers that look just like Chinese Mei flowers. That's why I like it.

Another reason why I love this skirt is that it's got a really pretty waist. It accentuate the waistline so well!
I paired it with a Loft loose fitting top in lilac. Easy and pretty. Reason why I added the long necklace is because without it, the outfit pulls your eyes horizontally, makes the body look wider; while adding it pulls your eyes vertically.
