Studs and all

I have to do quick posts these days because kids are back to school now, and I actually have "homework" to do, paper to sign, etc, etc. What's wrong with this picture? I always complain, "Are you going to school, or am I going to school? Why do I get homework from your teacher?" It's all about participation nowadays. My parents never participated and I turned out just fine!
Today's post is on a very cute skirt I got from F21 for $10. Got a lot of wear from it, but never got a chance to post. So here it is. A little black skirt with front zipper and studs all over. Just perfect.

My relentless effort to keep a Loft skirt

So today I really need your help. I bought the pink version of the skirt I blogged about in blue in this post and I am really having trouble justifying keeping the pink one. I like the material, the make, the fit of this skirt, BUT, and it's a real big BUT, no matter how I try to style it, it looks blah on me. So here they are.
I first tried to wear it with a graphic T I got from the Limited that happened to have some pink colored flowers on it that matches the color of the skirt. Well, the match worked, but the black waist band really cut me in half. I don't like it.
Then I tried sleeveless black top. I added similar colored necklace and bracelet to go with the look. And I used the black pump I just acquired to complete the look. A bit better, but I don't know, it's still a blah to me.
Then I said, maybe I can wear it in the fall with black tights and knee high boots. My goodness, what a flop!
Change back to the pumps with tights. A little better. But still... I already look completely discouraged.

My last experiment: change it to a pair of low boots. Not quite.
Please cast your vote on keeping or returning. I'm on the fence right now. I'll sum up the vote and make the decision that way. Figure it'll be easier. Oh one thing I do need to mention is the price of the skirt. I got it for $20.99, (orig. $69.50). Thank you all!!!

*Update* decision is: Return!!!

OOTD: Express ruffle top

The top I'm featuring today is amazingly similar to the top that AN wore for her petite fashion challenge. I had to do a double take on the top and realized the subtle difference of it. Also I'm debuting my new black Target pump I got in the mail this week and mentioned in this post. The outfit is an easy sharp looking work outfit. (You can't go wrong with black and white) Throw on a cardigan (pretty much any color would work) for the highly AC'ed workplace. Sorry about the wrinkles on the skirt. Didn't even notice until I saw the pictures. Doh!

Petite Fashion Challenge from extrapetite.com

The Challenge:
Create an outfit for weekend brunch with your girlfriends. The outfit must include one garment that is typically notorious for being a petite "don't." Such garments include: dresses, skirts, or pants that hit at the scary mid-calf length (not cute, cuffed jeans...I'm talking real capris) or below the knee, maxi dresses, full A-lined skirts, or wide-legged pants.

First of all, I want to thank PAG for organizing this challenge. This is truly a community event and I have been  so looking forward to it. The challenge is truly a challenge. There is a reason why the rules existed in the first place. To break it and look good, that's almost impossible. I finally broke down and said, I'm going to wear a petite "don't", but not bother with looking good part, then it got a bit easier. I know I'm cheating, but what can I do.
So I'm wearing a very old (who knows why I am still keeping it in my clothing box) dress that hits at an awful mid-calf length. You guys be the judge.

Outfit details:
Dress: Vintage
Sandals: Aldo
Hat: Loft
Necklace: Swarovski
Bag: Coach

Loft denim leggings and sequins tank

I am on a Loft roll these days. This post however was inspired by a Loft facebook entry called "How LOFT is Wearing Denim Leggings". It showed how 9 lovely Loft associates styled their denim leggings. So far it generated 76 comments from ladies arguing about whether leggings should even be invented, and whether it will work on people bigger than a size 2. Some thought you'd have to be skinny and tall to pull it off. To be honest, I think you have to be a bit on the small side to look good in it. I have seen skinny tall people in tights and it can make them look way to skinny. I own two Loft jean tights I bought in the spring. I adore them. They are COMFY!!! They feel like my second skin. Do I look good in it? I don't think it's my best piece of clothing, but I don't think I look hideous in it either. So, I'd like to hear what you ladies think.

It was a cold, damp, rainy day. I had to get the photo session done in the rain. Totally not looking forward to winter. I'm thinking of an indoor setup now so I don't have to go outside.

The sequins top needs sunshine to sparkle. :(

I think jean tights look better with pumps. Talking about pumps, I have just received my Target order of the Mossimo Virginia Pumps in taupe and black. I'm keeping both!!! I have had a hard time fitting into pumps. My feet are wide in the front, which makes all the Ann Taylor perfect pumps too narrow for me. I have tried many Nine West and Aldo pumps, and in all cases failed for various reasons. Most of them have slippage problems, which means I can't walk in them. They simply slip off my feet. These faux leather pumps are the perfect fit for me. I can't vouch for its quality. I assume they are not so good. But they fit me! For that I am eternally grateful.

Giveaway - Celebrating 100th Post (Betsey Johnson Charm Bracelet)

**** This giveaway is closed. Thank you for visiting! ****

Hello everyone,

First of all, I want to thank all my regular blog readers for your support and comments. It's you that keep this blog going. I'm sure all my fellow bloggers have the same feeling. So, thank you!

A little history of this blog. Sometime this spring, I stumbled upon a Lucky Style Spotter contest. The contest was sponsored by Lucky magazine and LOFT. The theme was to show how you wore 2010 spring collection pieces. I already had a trench I bought from Loft so I just took a picture and entered, just for fun. I didn't think that I would be rated #1 in the contest. You can still find me staying in the first place here. Now that I look back, I feel that I could have done a lot better than that picture. But hey everyone starts somewhere right? And I'm sure there is always room to do better. This contest sparkled my interest in fashion and fashion blogging. So this little blog was born. In the beginning it was used to record my daily outfits, then it expanded to fitting room reviews and clothing reviews. I have made so many friends with similar interest and have learned so much from you all. Now I'm writing my 100th post, genuinely thankful to all of you who took the time to submit your sweet comments. They are much appreciated and welcome.

To celebrate the 100th post, I am giving away a Betsey Johnson Charm Bracelet. The bracelet is made up with glass beads, bows, metal beads, black hearts, and python hearts. Its gunmetal color makes this bracelet very chic and has an edgy look to it. The bows softens the look. Betsey Johnson is one of my favorite designer brands for jewelry. I hope you guys like it too.

Loft Twist Neck Shell

The title sounds painful when I wrote it. The top I got as a filler for the f&f sale event turned out to be a keeper. I love everything about this top. I love its color, its sophisticated look, its silky cool material (not real silk by the way), and its fit. It goes with so many things. I can see myself wearing this with either a blazer or cardigan all the way into the fall.  You can also see how PetiteGorgeous wore it here. Also Loft is running an online sale of 30% right now on your entire purchase that includes a pair of pants. Use code PANTS30.

Another important announcement. This is my 99th post since I started blogging this April. I will be using my 100th post as my first giveaway post to thank everyone for supporting my little blog. Stay tuned.

Outfit details:
Top: Loft twist neck shell in moss green (size xsp)
Skirt: Banana Republic Factory (size 00p)
Pump: Chinese Laundry (size 6)

Where do petites live, and Shark bite top from Express

I read a very interesting article from Wall Street Journal on the way back from my Portland trip last month. The title of the article was, "Fashion Nation: What Retailers Know About Us." Check it out if you get a chance. Online retailers know every click we make. They know which brands we've peeked at, how long we pondered, and what we actually purchased. They know the time of the day and the day of the week we shop.... Basically, they know everything. So much for privacy. But we are used to it right? Another very interesting statistical data they found out was that "women are thinner on the coasts." In New York and Los Angeles, 14% of women selected size 0 tops, compared with only 5% nationwide. Now hear this: Petite clothing and small shoe sizes were also popular on the coasts, raising the possibility that the women there are just smaller. Hummm. Any idea why? Any theories? I would love to hear your opinions.

On to the outfit of the day. The pictures were taken a week ago. I had this shark bite top from Express that I absolutely love for it's 3-D graphics in the front. I envisioned that I would need a capri tights to go with it. Guess what, I don't own any tights, at least not yet. So I had to go with a capri jeans. Not quite there, but not too bad, I guess.  I was trying to portray an edgy look... yet again, after a complete failure in a June post here. This time, it's a tad bit better, I'll need to still work on it. hehe. Bear with me.

Loft Shimmery Jacquard Skirt

I remember seeing this skirt on Alteration Needed and thought it was too shimmery for me.  Then I saw it on Sahara in person, and wow did that change my mind. I ended up ordering both colors (blue and pink) during friends and family sales. Then Really Petite also showcased this skirt and it looked beautiful on her. Now again!!!  Only this time, on me! Feeling like beating a dead horse now. :)

Showcasing Loft Ornate Zebra Pencil Skirt

Many of you have seen this skirt before in PAG's fitting room review here. She mentioned that if someone was a bit bigger than she was, it should fit well. That's a good sign that this skirt would fit me. :) So I purchased it during the Friends and Family 30% off sale week for $20.99. I like this skirt. It's a keeper no doubt. It has a classic pencil skirt fitting, but with a bit of a wild print. Loft called it an Ornate Zebra Pencil Skirt. The husband saw the skirt on me and burst out a comment that I am still laughing at now. "Since when did zebras look like that?" Well, it does have "ornate" in the name too.

Top: Banana Republic (XS, from last year)
Cream cardigan: Calvin Klein (XS)

Loft and Express find reviews

I want to share some low quality pictures I took with my iphone in dimly lit dressing rooms last week. Take into account that my iphone picture taking skill (of myself to boot) is horrible.

This shirt is a great fit for me. It's a basic white shirt that I have been looking for. The only thing I don't like is the stiffness of the material. The puffy sleeves stay up when I raised my arms which is kind of silly. Will it soften after washes? I don't know. But if it's at a deeper discount, I'd get it.

Express Elite Stretch Ruffled-Front Shirt (XS)

I love this shirt!!! I love the grey color, I love the ruffles (done just the right amount). Also this shirt is designed to fit every curve of your body. Very well made. It's at regular price of $49.50. A little pricey but they do have a lot of coupons online.

Loft Marisa modern trouser (00P)
This one is in store only. I haven't found it online.

Fits well on me. Might be a tad big on some of you smaller than me. The fabric and and patterns are great. I love the details in the back.

Beautiful silk dress in bright red color. Works very well with a brown or black belt. Fits true to size. Definitely recommend it.

And if you are smaller than me, which I know some of you are, check this shirt out at Express.com. They only have size XXS left. Good for the tiny people. :)
